We performed the seismic assessment and designed the retrofit solutions of a URM building with historical and architectural value. The building complex (approx. 9500 m²) is composed by a former Jesuit college and a church both built in the XVII century. We performed a consulting intervention for the company Si.Me.Te. S.r.l. concerning the design of seismic retrofit interventions for the structure.
The work performed by the team of Sismica360 was subdivided in the following phases:
- In-situ testing campaign design and interpretation for material characterization;
- Finite element modelling of the structure using a non-linear macroelements model;
- Global in-plane assessment using non-linear static analyses to estimate the seismic vulnerability of the structure;
- Local assessment using non-linear kinematic analyses of the possible out-of-plane collapse mechanisms;
- Analysis of arch and vault elements using finite element models;
- Consultancy on the design and efficiency of retrofit interventions to improve the seismic behaviour of the structure.
